EP-018 Concurrence in Legislation

Can you hear The Doors music playing: “This is the end, beautiful friend, this is the end.” In Washington State for common sense citizens, this track fulfills the ominous tone intended as the State Legislature winds down to a furious finish of policy bills and budget proposals.

Erica Engelhart and Jay Fratt take a look at the final stage of “concurrence” in the legislative process with State Senator Drew MacEwen.

Fratt has discussed the strategic possibility of Democrat legislators “flooding the zone” with policy legislation while we are in this budget-heavy session. Recently Senate Democrats have amended a rule with SR-8654 that is focused on assisting a rush at the end with policy bills. Senator MacEwen also takes time to explain the repercussions of that recent rule amendment.
